Three people were arrested in the run up to Christmas in a police town centre crackdown on violent crime.
During the last weekend before Christmas, dozens of people passed through a safety arch in the town centre resulting in three arrests for offences including possession of drugs, and one cannabis warning.
Extra police patrols were in place, and a drugs dog was used on Yorkshire Street.
Police are also working closely with the pubs, clubs and bars in the town centre to ensure they are complying with their licence and serving alcohol responsibly.
PC Mark Bertenshaw from the neighbourhood priority team said: “This activity should send a stern warning to troublemakers that they are not welcome in Oldham.”
GMP is working to reduce the levels of crime caused by partygoers drinking too much alcohol. Officers across Greater Manchester are working with licensed premises, universities and taxi firms to promote the campaign.
