A HEAD teacher from Oldham who once tackled a knife-wielding thug has been honoured with a CBE.
Middleton Technology School head Allison Crompton was given the award for services to local and national education.
Mrs Crompton (49), of Chadderton, hit the headlines two years ago when she saw a 17-year-old with a large knife threatening another youth and chased him away from the school grounds.
When the thug tried to flee by boarding a bus and disturbed elderly passengers, she followed him and demanded he get off.
He was arrested within minutes and convicted.
