Happy Birthday to Margaret
FEISTY Margaret Monk is 102 tomorrow, and is already celebrating!
The great-grandmother-of-two is looking forward to her birthday bash with family and fellow residents at Dryclough Manor in Royton, where she has lived for three years. She worked as a manager of Waddington’s tobacconists, Huddersfield Road, before leaving aged 70 to run a stall on Oldham market for another decade. She married James in 1952 and he died 28 years ago. Margaret has two step-children, one grandchild and two great grandchildren.
Dryclough manager Jacqueline Byrne said: “She’s quite a character. She’s very excited about tomorrow — she already downed a glass of sherry in one!”
