Marion Wolfenden, 105 today
LIVE each day as it comes and make the best of everything — that’s the advice of Marion Wolfenden who is 105 today.
The sprightly centenarian lived alone in Watersheddings until she turned 102 when she moved into the Millfield residential home in Waterhead.
Marion, who has never smoked or drank alcohol, was born in Hollinwood and married her husband, Dudley, in the 1930s.
Although Marion started married life as a housewife, she soon opened a herbalist shop with Dudley in Waterloo Street where she enjoyed meeting and serving customers.
The couple had a daughter, Brenda, who died in the mid-1980s and Dudley died soon after.
The grandmother of two, who also has a great-grandchild, will be celebrate her birthday with family, staff and fellow residents at Millfield.
