After a Christmas packed with campaigning, Debbie Abrahams finally arrived in Westminster as the new MP for Oldham East and Saddleworth.
Greeted by cheers from Labour colleagues, Mrs Abrahams met with Ed Miliband at the start of a busy day in which she settled into her new office, was handed a security pass and attended her first meeting of the Parliamentary Labour Party.
She said: “I had no expectations of what the day would be like but it has been really busy and filled with logistical things.
“Everyone has been really welcoming and I am looking forward to getting on with the job.
The first day was great and I already have an office and am getting myself online and running.”
Mrs Abrahams was elected last week with a majority of 3,358 and takes over from former MP Phil Woolas.
