OLDHAM’S first online community meeting — and the first in Greater Manchester — was hailed a roaring success by organisers last night.
The pilot open forum organised by Greater Manchester Police saw locals take to the Internet to quiz community leaders.
Insp Danny Milovanovic, of the Saddleworth and Lees Neighbourhood Police Team, said: “It’s been very positive, the comments were genuine and we had up to 20 people logging on at one point.
“Some of the PACT meetings have been successful but some have been less so. This has definitely attracted people who might not have attended the meetings.”
He was joined by Lisa Macdonald, the council’s neighbourhood manager and Councillor Barbara Beeley, from Saddleworth West and Lees, who answered questions from Uppermill police station.
