NARROW escape after ice-crash
THE driver of this van escaped with only a minor injury to his hand when he lost control after skidding on ice and careering off the road in Denshaw last night.
The white Ford Transit van was extensively damaged in the accident on Ripponden Road shortly before 11pm. No other cars were involved and the man was treated at the scene by an ambulance crew. It was a day of treacherous driving conditions as freezing fog meant poor visibility and temperatures plummeting to as low as minus-3C.
This picture was sent in by Chronicle reader Malcolm Journeaux, who was at the scene to catch the snap.
Firemen had to cut the roof off a Vauxhall Astra car to help paramedics treat at crash victim in Werneth.
The two car bump happened in Featherstall Road South at the Railway road junction around 2pm yesterday (thur), and also involved a VW Passat. One vehicle hit a lamp post.
Fire engines from Oldham and Blackley helped paramedics free the Astra driver, thought to be in his 30s, who had suspected neck and back injuries.
