WHILE Prince William and Kate Middleton are tying the knot at Westminster Abbey on April 29, Oldham’s very own royal couple will be making the rounds.

Charity stalwart Beverley Heap has come up with a novel idea to raise money for three local charities.

But she needs the help of Oldhamers to make it a success.

First she needs William and Kate look-alikes, then a raft of local businesses to offer their services to turn them into Oldham’s very own royal couple.

They will need outfits fitting for a regal bride and groom, “Kate” needs a wedding day hairstyle, make-up and flowers, and the couple will need dancing lessons so they can perform the first waltz.

They need a limo to ferry them around the borough, and parties to go to and then the job will be complete.

Beverley has helped at Oldham Cancer Support Centre and also assisted the late Jaynie Huxley, whose book Let the Swearing Begin”was published last year, and was a Pride in Oldham nominee last year.

Beverley said: “Our Kate and William will perform the first dance at functions they are invited to in return for a donation which will go to charity.

Kate and William look-alikes should send photographs before February 28 to Beverley Heap, 17 North Rise, Greenfield, Oldham, OL3 7ED, and anyone who can offer a service to make them look the part on the day of the wedding, can contact Beverley on 07754 533026 or email bevheap99@yahoo.co.uk

A panel of judges will select a shortlist, who will be invited to a sparkling ceremony where the winners will be picked and thrown into whirl of pre-wedding activity to prepare them for “the big day.”

Proceeds will be split between Oldham Cancer Support Centre, Oldham Mountain Rescue, and the Springhead-based Saddleworth Special Needs Nursery.
