HMV shuts up shop
Date published: 02 February 2011
OLDHAM’S HMV store has closed down as the company fights to recover from a 10 per cent sales slump.
The retailer announced it would close 60 stores over the next 12 months after its shares dropped 20 per cent. The firm blamed heavy snowfall for a fall in profits in the run up to Christmas. The nearest HMV stores for local music fans are in Rochdale and Ashton.
