Sex trial accused ‘forgot’ about case

AN Oldham man who was wanted for 13 years over alleged child sex offences claimed he simply “forgot” about the case.
Anya Miah repeatedly told jurors at Liverpool Crown Court he did not understand the court process or why he was on trial.
The 52-year-old is accused of repeatedly molesting a girl between 1987 and 1990.
But Miah, formerly of Toxteth, claimed he failed to turn up at Liverpool Crown Court in November 1998 because he was in hospital suffering from jaundice and arthritis, and then “forgot about it.”
Miah, of Picton Square, Oldham, denies 16 offences of indecent assault and one charge of rape.
