Bingo! It’s 102 for Lily
Date published: 11 February 2011
A SPRIGHTLY great-great-grandmother who celebrated her 102nd birthday yesterday is proof that an active mind and body is the key to long life.
Lily Lamb, from Chadderton, marked her centenary year in 2009 by working out at Oldham Sports Centre.
A keen gym-goer, who attended twice weekly workouts, she extolled the virtues of healthy diet and exercise — but also a regular tot of sherry.
This year, the sociable centenarian kept her mind sharp with a spot of bingo with friends at Washbrook Tenants’ meeting rooms, Chadderton, in the run up to her big day.
Lily attended the former St Andrew’s School, in Chadderton, and worked as a weaver at Stotts Mill in Werneth,
Twice widowed, she has eight grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandson.
