THE Mayor of Oldham played host for a visit by Mohammed Razzaq Chaudhry, the senior leader of Pakistan People’s Party of Kashmir.
It was part of a tour of England and gave the two leaders the chance to compare notes on their different systems of local government.
Councillor Ateeque Ur-Rehman helped to organise the visit and said: “He is in this country because a lot of members from his constituency live in the UK and he wanted to meet them.
“He came to Oldham to see how the community has integrated, and he was very impressed. He had a good discussion with the Mayor, Councillor David Jones, then went on to a house meeting. Mr Razzaq stayed in Oldham with relatives before his flight home.”
