AN Oldham drug dealer has been sentenced to four years in jail for possessing Class A drugs with intent to supply.

Sarfaz Nazir (26), of Laburnum Avenue, Chadderton, pleaded guilty at an earlier hearing at Minshull Street Crown Court to two counts of possessing cocaine and heroin with intent to supply.

On November 1, 2010, police raided Nazir’s home and seized cocaine and heroin, with a street value of over £3,000.

He was sentenced yesterday to four years in jail.

PC Darren Hancock from Greater Manchester Police’s Oldham division said: “This is a firm message to drug dealers across Greater Manchester that they will be caught and punished for their actions.

“We are committed to eradicating our streets of drugs and helping make neighbourhoods safer.

IN a separate case, an Oldham teenager accused of trying to import more than £11,000 worth of cannabis into the Isle of Man has been bailed until March 29.
Thomas James Higham is also charged with possessing drugs with intent to supply.

The prosecution said he should remain in custody because of the large volume allegedly involved.

But Alastair Montgomerie, Isle of Man deputy high bailiff. granted bail of £500 with a surety of £5,000.

That was lodged with the court by Higham’s father, with whom he must live.

Higham must report daily to Oldham police and is barred from having any contact with co-defendant Gary Vincent Young.
