LATICS fans can now buy match tickets while they sweat it out in the gym or enjoy a pint.

The club has struck a deal with Oldham Community Leisure to allow gym-goers in Oldham Chadderton, Failsworth and Saddleworth to get their tickets at the sports centres.

Fans will also be able to buy tickets at the Up Steps in Oldham town centre’s High Street.

Up Steps manager Simon Parkin said: “We have a lot of Latics fans who are customers and there is nowhere in the town centre where they can buy match tickets.

“One of our staff used to work for Latics and he suggested the idea and we thought it was a good way to support our local club.

“Hopefully we will attract more Latics fans and this is also a case of local business and the football club joining together for the betterment of Oldham.”

Ian Kendall, chief executive of Oldham Community Leisure, added: “We are delighted to help the football club as it tries to maximise its support in the town.

“Hopefully it will make it easier for fans in outlying areas to buy match tickets.

“When we were approached by Colin Moore from Oldham Athletic Community Trust with the idea, we were only too happy to help out.”

Latics chief executive Alan Hardy said: “We are extremely grateful to have their support

“We hope that by doing this, it encourages fans to buy tickets in advance of games and therefore saving themselves £2 off the match-day admission price.”
