NO likey, no lighty! Oldhamer Gemma Gill is hoping to find love on ITV dating show Take Me Out.
The cult Saturday night programme — hosted by Bolton comedian Paddy McGuinness — sees a group of 30 glamorous girls vie for the attention of a series of men in a bid to be picked to go on a date to the Isle of Fernando.
The men perform a series of tasks for the girls who leave their lights on if they’re keen. The man can then take their pick from all the girls who’ve still got their lights on — hence the catchphrase.
Gemma, a former pupil at North Chadderton School, applied to go on the show after ending a three-year relationship.
The 23-year-old recruitment consultant said: “I filled in a form and sent a photo and the next thing I knew, I was invited to an audition. I had to speak about myself to the camera and play games. I was delighted when I found out I’d been picked to go on the show.
“I’m never normally nervous but when we filming it was quite daunting with the studio lights and the live audience.”
Gemma is keeping tight-lipped about how successful she is on the show but will admit that she’s still “single and ready to mingle”.
She said: “It gets quite competitive on the show as all the girls are keen to get picked for a date.
“But I’ve kept in touch with a few of them and we’re having a big Take Me Out reunion in Manchester in April so I’ll get to see them all again.
“My ideal man is quite sporty and tall with a good sense of humour. I’d like him to be good looking but personality is more important.
“There were some men on the show that were my type. They must have had real guts to go on and be judged by 30 girls on live TV.”
Gemma was introduced to the Take Me Out audience on last week’s show but you can watch her first full appearance on Saturday from 9pm.
