Oldham Athletic’s prayers could be answered tomorrow after the club received a visit by the Bishop of Middleton, The Right Rev Mark Davies, at Boundary Park.
Latics have suffered a goal drought and lack of points — they haven’t won since they beat Hartlepool on February 1, 4-0, and haven’t scored since the 1-1 draw against Dagenham four days later.
Tomorrow they play Peterborough United at Boundary Park.
And they may be blessed with good fortune after the Bishop dropped into the ground as part of his two-day pastoral visit to Oldham yesterday.
He also met the club chaplain, the Rev John Simmons, Vicar of Christ Church in Chadderton, who is a lifelong Latics fan. Latics chief executive Alan Hardy said: “The Bishop wanted to take a closer look at Rev Simmons’s role at Boundary Park, and he was also interested in our close ties to local schools.”
