Bogus cabbie’s rape bid
Date published: 25 February 2011
A BOGUS taxi-driver tried to rape a 52-year-old woman he picked up in Kiln Lane, Milnrow.
She was trying to flag down a cab when a large blue or black, four-door vehicle pulled up, between 1am and 2.30am on Saturday, February 19. The driver told her he was a taxi-driver, so she got in. He then drove her to an area thought to be Whitworth Street, near Milnrow train station, where the attack took place.
The driver was white, chubby, with a round face, in his late 50s or early 60s, and of average height.
Det-Con Michael Berger, of Rochdale CID, said: “I am also appealing to anyone whose husband, partner or father may have been out in a car as described by the victim at the time of the attack and who perhaps returned home acting differently.” Anyone with information is asked to call Rochdale CID on 0161-856 4646.
