Jealous boy friend jailed for two years

A 21-year-old Oldham man who subjected his former partner to a two-hour terror ordeal has been jailed for two years.
Dean Schofield, of Stag Pasture Road, Limeside, was the subject of a court order preventing him from going anywhere near his ex-girl friend Kerry Pinney after twice being convicted of battery against her.
But within days of the order being imposed in July last year, he managed to get into the home they had shared in Stag Pasture Road late at night.
She awoke to find jealous Schofield going through her mobile phone files, looking for evidence of her talking to other men.
Schofield was jailed for 20 months for false imprisonment, and was told he must serve an extra four months for breach of the restraining orders.
Manchester’s Minshull Street Crown Court was told that he called Ms Pinney a slag, then picked up their eleven-month old baby son, and ordered her to get dressed.
Mark Kellett prosecuting, said he forced her to go with him to her sister’s house in near-by Whitebank Road, where he held her against her will for two hours.
Her ordeal only ended when he was told that Kerry’s mother, of whom he was afraid, was on her way to confront him.
During the time he held her trapped, he told her if he found out that she had slept with anyone else, he would kill her.
Ms Pinney later told police his behaviour ranged between begging, pleading and crying, to being extremely aggressive.
After being arrested a short time later, Schofield claimed that his former partner had contacted him saying she wanted them to get back together, and that it had been her idea to go her sister’s so they could talk things through.
The court was told that he subsequently pleaded not guilty to a charge of wrongful imprisonment, and only admitted what he had done on the day his trial was due to start.
Philip Barnes defending, said his client, who had spent much of his early life in hostels, care homes and custody, had not known how to deal with the end of their relationship.
He said he now accepted that it was over for good, and wanted to rebuild his life.
