WELL done . . . Malcolm Hill presents Bob with a special certificate
FIFTY years of song and service is being celebrated by one special member of the Saddleworth Male Voice Choir.
Members offered Bob Tutton a special round of applause and a plaque to mark his half-century dedication to the local choir.
Born in Newport, South Wales, Bob was brought up in Devon and was stationed in Japan in the RAF immediately after the Hiroshima bombing.
After the war, he moved to Greenfield and found his voice with the choir in 1961, aged 36.
Five decades later and Bob, of Shaw Street, has performed at countless concerts in the bass section.
Fellow member John Watts said: “He is really quite a character. He loves the comradeship.
“He stopped performing at concerts seven years ago but he has never missed a weekly rehearsal since.”
Malcolm Hill, choir president, handed Bob the framed certificate as he became the second longest-serving member.
