Ofsted inspectors have given Roundthorn Community Primary top marks — to mark a huge improvement over the last inspection.
Most children start the school in the early stages of learning English as an additional language.
But exciting and fun activities help them to flourish and make excellent progress during their time at the school, said the inspectorate
Staff were also praised for their efforts to support pupils’ personal development and prepare them well for the future.
Relationships with parents and carers are good helping children to feel safe and secure.
Inspectors reported that children enter classrooms with smiles on their faces and a positive attitude towards their teachers and classmates.
Head teacher Lisa Needham was singled out for praise with inspectors crediting her for developing a highly-skilled team.
Mrs Needham said: “We are absolutely delighted with the outcome of the inspection, which is a result of three years of hard work, enthusiasm and the total dedication of my excellent teaching and non-teaching staff who all believe that every child who comes through our doors really does matter.”
