OLDHAM NHS chief executive Shauna Dixon has described getting her MBE as the pinnacle of her career.
She went to Buckingham Palace to receive the honour for 40 years’ dedication to the health service.
The married mum-of-two has worked at NHS Oldham since 2003 and, before becoming chief executive in December, 2010, was director of clinical leadership.
She said: “To sum up the day, I would say tremendous. It was extremely well organised and everything ran like clockwork. The Queen was lovely and really put me at ease. She was very engaging, interested and encouraged a two-way conversation.
“As I received my MBE from the Queen, I couldn’t quite believe I was standing there and I felt so honoured and proud. This really is the pinnacle of my career in healthcare.”
She thanked everyone for the cards and letters of congratulations she had received.
