ANOTHER bout of traffic disruption could be in store for villagers in Delph as Denshaw Road is to close three times over the summer.
The busy commuter route will be shut for several weeks at a time as part of a multi-million pound flood protection scheme to be carried out by United Utilities.
The water company is upgrading sewers during the £5.5 million project to avoid future overflowing after heavy rainfall.
Planning permission has already been granted for the work, due to start early next month, which includes building underground stormwater storage tanks and connecting sewers in private land behind Delph Primary School.
Parts of Denshaw Road will be closed in phases to allow large sewers to be laid.
Work on the first stage will run from April 9 until Monday May 2, with phase two from May 28 until June 5 and the final section from July 23 until September 4.
