Date published: 23 March 2011
CANNABIS plants worth £105,000 have been seized by Oldham police after they raided an empty shop in Yorkshire Street, Oldham town centre.
Inside, officers discovered 230 plants along with equipment used to cultivate the drug. No arrests have been made but inquiries are ongoing.
Sergeant Nicholas Derbyshire from Greater Manchester Police’s Oldham East Neighbourhood Policing Team said: “This seizure has not only helped stop drugs flooding our streets but also stopped those responsible making money out of other people’s misery.
“I would urge anyone who knows about the production of cannabis to contact police and help us rid the community of drugs and those who deal in them.”
