Lecturers on strike
Date published: 23 March 2011
University lecturers will be on strike in Oldham tomorrow over pension changes and university funding cuts.
Members of the University and Colleges Union will picket University Campus Oldham, part of the University of Huddersfield, throughout the day.
Barbara Fielden-Cash, who teaches the MBA management course, said she does not know how many staff will join in, but expects up to six at a time will be on the picket line.
Barbara said: “Cuts will affect students and staff.”
Professor Bob Cryan, vice-chancellor of the University of Huddersfield, said: “Our primary concern regarding any strike is the impact on our students. I am confident all staff will work together to manage any difficulties that may arise in the event of a strike.’’
