Bradley paintings sell for £34,500

A TRIO of paintings by Lees-born artist Helen Bradley sold for £34,500 at auction.
The previously unseen watercolours fetched £10,500, £11,500 and £12,500 at Colwyn Bay auctioneers Rogers Jones on Tuesday.
The paintings were commissioned directly from the artist by a Manchester businessman following a chance meeting in the late 1970s.
The late Gordon Haig Emery bought the paintings as a birthday present for his wife, Josephine, when they met Helen, who died in 1979, at a cocktail party.
The watercolours depict a river bank picnic in Windermere, a man starting his car surrounded by family on a country road and an Edwardian park in the autumn.
