FAILSWORTH police officers sniffed out a cannabis farm with an estimated street value of £4,000.
Officers from the Failsworth and Hollinwood Neighbourhood Policing Team (NPT) came across a pungent smell of cannabis coming from a house on Ashton Road West, Failsworth.
After forcing entry into the property, they discovered 20 mature plants growing in tents in two upstairs bedrooms.
Two men aged 36 and 50 were arrested on suspicion of cultivating cannabis and abstracting electricity and have been bailed pending further inquiries.
Sgt Paul Archer, of the NPT, said: “I would ask residents to be alert to the pungent and unique smell cannabis has and if anyone who has suspicions that an address might be being used to grow cannabis to call us.
“Sadly, criminals are also on the look-out for cannabis farms and we have recently had reports of people breaking into the homes of innocent people who happen to live near to where a drugs den is later uncovered by us.
“All information received will be treated in strict confidence and by working together we can stop the supply of illegal drugs, identify and arrest those responsible and prevent innocent homes being targeted.”
Anyone with information is asked to call the Failsworth and Hollinwood Neighbourhood Policing Team on 0161-856 8995.
