SHOBNA: have bike, will travel to Africa
Shaw’s Coronation Street actress Shobna Gulati is to star in a documentary to highlight the plight of some of the poorest people in Africa.
Best known as Sunita Alahan in the ITV1 soap, Shobna is joining other celebrities for a Get On Africa expedition with health workers in Lesotho.
They will spend a week visiting isolated villages on motorbikes, after spending several months learning to ride the bikes and under going off-road training.
Shobna will be joined by fellow celebs Gethin Jones, Darren Gough, Jill Halfpenny and Oliver Mellor as they saddle up for the charity, Riders for Health.
The group will spend five days riding out to clinics which support some of the most isolated and poorest communities in Africa, and will join health workers delivering vital supplies to fight HIV and tuberculosis.
Filming is due to start, and the show is set for broadcast in the autumn
