GRAND OPENNG: Paul Cassidy, director of Adult Services, opens the new unit
A new respite centre exclusively for people with dementia has opened its doors in Oldham.
A refurbished wing at Medlock Court in Lees will provide 32 places for dementia sufferers in need of short-stay or respite care.
Delighted staff and patients gathered to officially open the centre.
New digital door locks, brightly coloured hand rails and appropriate floor coverings have been installed to make the centre a safe haven for those with the condition.
Paul Cassidy, director of adult services said: “Medlock Court brings together the best facilities and staff in one place who will provide a high quality respite care service.
“The facilities at Medlock Court have been carefully and thoughtfully designed to provide a safe and secure environment for people with dementia.”
A new staff team has been on an intensive training programme prior to the opening of the wing. A garden makeover has also spruced up the surrounding areas, with plans to build raised beds so patients can experience the joys of gardening at the centre.
