Don’t miss out on your royal party
Date published: 06 April 2011
TIME is running out if you’re planning an event to celebrate the royal wedding.
Anyone planning a street party to commemorate the marriage of Prince William and Kate Middleton on April 29 must return their formal application by 5pm on Friday.
Organisers need to complete an event notification form, a short risk assessment and an event plan.
The forms can be found online at www.oldham.gov.uk/royal_wedding and can be returned to Oldham Council’s licensing team at Sir Robert Peacock House, Vulcan Street, Oldham, OL1 4LA, or via email to licensing@oldham.gov.uk .
Organisers must also have public liability insurance cover for street parties, which costs about £65.
The council says organisers don’t need a license to serve alcohol at a wedding party but if alcohol is being sold they need a Temporary Events Notice form costing £21. Contact 0161-770 4730/4731.
For more information visit the royal wedding page on the council website at www.oldham.gov.uk/royal_wedding .
