Taxi test for new drivers
Date published: 08 April 2011
WOULD-BE taxi drivers in Oldham are now being assessed by the Driving Standards Agency before being given a licence to run a cab.
Over 160 councils throughout Britain have agreed to take taxi testing on board and a test centre at Failsworth is now operational for taxi testing.
Specially-trained driving examiners will assess the ability of applicants to drive safely and professionally in a real environment and is set at a higher standard than the test for learner drivers.
Those who are successful receive a certificate of competence.
