POLICE will join forces with traffic wardens to crack down on illegal parking in Union Street.
Officers will assist wardens following incidents of abuse from drivers parking on double yellow lines in front of takeaways near King Street.
Inspector Melita Worswick, from Oldham Town Centre Neighbourhood Police Team, said: “Parking attendants have been getting quite a lot of abuse.
“A few days with police officers and they will feel secure to do it by themselves.”
Enforcement officers will be targeting cars parked on yellow lines in Union Street to keep traffic flowing.
