Lily’s killer living the prison high-life

NEIGHBOURS of a murdered Failsworth pensioner have reacted with disgust at her killer’s lavish lifestyle.
One of the UK’s longest serving female prisoners, Sarah Davey (27) of Failsworth, was just 14 years old when she and her friend — then known as Lisa Healey — tortured 71-year-old widow Lily Lilley of West Street, in 1998.
The pair befriended her, but once in her home, they cut her legs with a knife and gagged her, which forced her dentures down her throat, suffocating her.
They then put her body into a wheelie bin and dumped it in Rochdale Canal, where it was found three days later.
The killers, who were both sentenced to a minimum eight years inside, then made 258 calls from the pensioner’s phone and spent her money. But Davey, who was jailed for what Judge Sachs called “unspeakable cruelty”, is serving her time at Askham Grange open prison in York, where she regularly enjoys shopping trips to the city, manicures, having her hair done and is even allowed to use sunbeds, according to the Daily Mail.
Lily Lilley’s former neighbour, Linda Taggart said she would always remember the day she came home to find police everywhere.
“All the children were saying Sarah’s killed Lily. I couldn’t believe it,” she said.
She added: “Sarah used to play with my grandaughter all the time.
“You never think something like this is going to happen on your doorstep. Lily never bothered anyone.
“I don’t think it’s right Sarah should get all these treatments — where’s the punishment? I don’t think she should be released on parole.”
Another resident, who did not wish to be named, said Lily was a quiet person who kept herself to herself.
She said: “Having manicures and going on sunbeds isn’t a punishment — that’s like a holiday.
“I think it’s absolutely despicable how she is treated. If that’s what prison’s like I wouldn’t mind going!”
Lisa Healey became pregnant while on day release and had her identity changed to protect her child.
The Ministry of Justice refused to comment.
