Jean’s return

OLDHAM’S Mayoress is back on duty from today following a stint in hospital.

Jean Jones was forced to take a step back from civic duties with her husband, Councillor David Jones, when she fell ill last weekend.

But the resilient former councillor, who stepped down from the Medlock Vale ward last year, is back in action and will accompany her husband on a civic tour of Wigan Town Hall tonight.

The couple will also attend a Mayor’s Appeal fundraising event at the Sagor Restaurant in Lees Road, Clarksfield, on Sunday afternoon.
