Apply now for free central heating
Date published: 18 April 2011
The Government is accepting new applications for Warm Front, an Oldham Council-backed campaign.
The grant pays for central heating — new or improved — to a maximum of £3,500, or £6,000 for properties off the gas network.
To qualify, households must receive one of a range of means-tested benefits, be vulnerable on grounds of age or with some form of disability and either own or privately rent a home with a particularly low energy efficiency rating.
Anyone entitled to the Cold Weather Payment should qualify for Warm Front as long as their house is below a certain energy efficiency level.
Elaine McLean, Executive Director Economy, Place and Skills, said: “Winter may seem a long time away but I would urge anyone who thinks they may be eligible for Warm Front to apply for funding as soon as possible so that work on their homes can get started.”
For details of qualifying criteria visit www.warmfront.co.uk or call 0800-316 2814.
