Oldham University fees set
Date published: 19 April 2011
THE future for local students looks bright, according to top university officials.
The University of Huddersfield, which runs University Campus Oldham in Cromwell Street, has set fees for 2012 at £7,950. Government guidelines permit charges of up to £9,000.
The university has also climbed nine places in the Complete University Guide, which rates and ranks educational establishments across the country on factors such as the student-to-staff ratio, degree completion and facilities.
Huddersfield came 58th on the list, up from 67th last year, scoring highly for student satisfaction, graduate prospects and green credentials.
Universities were forced to increase their fees following a huge reduction in funding from the Government.
The University of Huddersfield consulted students in a bid to set a fair charge for courses. With the National Scholarship Programme, the university will be making 440 scholarships available, each worth £3,000, for students from low-income families.
