CHAMPIONS... Rangers players Max Jones (left) and Tommy Wild celebrate winning their new kit
A NEW Oldham junior football team will be driving to finish first after scooping a kit in a bus operator’s community campaign.
Oldham Rangers Under-6s were chosen out of dozens of teams who applied from across Greater Manchester to receive a new sponsored kit by First, the region’s biggest bus operator.
The team, which plays on Clayton Playing Fields, are busy preparing for their first season in the North Bury Junior Football League and will also receive free training kits and footballs.
They were on the lookout for a kit as older teams at Oldham Rangers, formerly Chaddy Hoppers, did not have anything suitable.
Delighted manager Martin Wild said: “I have been feeling the pressure of finding the money for a new kit. My worries have now been taken away.”
The giveaway is part of First’s move to support deserving causes.
