Louise Harper: rock for charity
A BAND of 15 Oldhamers — including model Michelle Marsh — is set to rock out at a special charity gig.
Rock Divas — fronted by powerful female vocalists Louise Harper, Hayley Hilton, Elizabeth Marsland and Jill Schoonjans — will perform at the Band on The Wall in Manchester, on Easter Monday.
The musicians are hoping to play a range of rock hits by favourites such as Aerosmith, Guns ‘n Roses, Bon Jovi and Pink to raise money for Families’ Activity Breaks (FAB).
The charity provides week-long fun and challenging activity holidays around the UK for bereaved families of the military.
Louise Harper, from Royton said: “My brother-in-law is a volunteer at FAB and he asked me to come down one night and sing for some children who had lost their dads.
“I was really touched by the whole thing and now I go down to Whitby each year to help them celebrate the fun weeks that they have. Now the charity is really struggling for money so we got some friends together to do something to help.”
She said the gig would be a mixture of hard rock, acoustic and string versions of rock classics to provide something for everyone.
Doors are open at 7pm for the gig with tickets available to buy from www.bandonthewall.org
