PATRIOTIC Oldhamers can enjoy a feast of fun at the borough’s St George’s Day celebrations tomorrow.
Mayor of Oldham, Councillor David Jones, will raise the St George’s Flag at the civic centre at 11am. He has invited the council’s Liberal Democrat, Labour and Conservative leaders to join him.
A number of events also take place across the borough.
They include a family fun-day at Royton and Crompton School from 1pm to 4pm. Attractions organised by the district partnership include birds of prey, a battle re-enactment, face-painting, an inflatable pirate ship, fairground stalls and sports.
Or head to Waterhead Park from noon to 4pm for stalls, games and a cafe with singing waiters from Oldham Theatre Workshop. The event is funded by East Oldham District Partnership and East Oldham’s Connecting Communities.
The mayor said: “By raising the flag we are ceremonially kicking off the celebrations to mark England’s patron saint’s national day.”
