ELSIE Brereton — one of Oldham’s oldest women — has died aged 106.
The sprightly centenarian, who was living at the Longwood Lodge Care Home in Glodwick, stayed active with regular bingo and domino sessions and she also enjoyed watching sport on TV. Elsie, who went to Northmoor School and worked at Westend Mill in Chadderton, suffered a broken hip in 2006 but amazed doctors when she made a full recovery.
She leaves behind two daughters, a son-in-law, six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Elsie’s funeral will take place at Oldham Crematorium on Tuesday, May 3, at 11am.
