CONVOY . . . young riders set off from Husteads Stables
SPIRITS were high as youngsters from Husteads Riding Stables in Dobcross united for a fundraising parade.
Hot on the heels of a recent fundraising trek, participants showed they could do just as well as they embarked on a two-hour ride to stump up cash for the stables.
Horses, a 37-year-old pony and even a donkey were ridden by young members, eager to do their bit to rebuild the stables which were devastated by fire in February.
Organised by member Victoria Hollingworth, the convoy took in Brownhill, Uppermill and the Delph Donkey trail.
Maggie Dickinson, who took part in the event, said: “We had one rider as young as four and it was so touching to see the little ones wanting to do their bit.
“Some of the girls who learned to ride years ago are now returning with their children.
“People read about the fire in the Chronicle and are coming up to support the stables.
“Owner Judith Liversidge is a fantastic person and that is apparent with all the people that have come out to support her in getting the school back to how it was.”
