The former owner of Oldham Athletic Football Club, Chris Moore, will appear in court later this week.
He has been charged with offences in connection with the collapse of Torex Retail, a software firm that went into administration in 2007, following a Serious Fraud Office investigation.
He has been charged with conspiracy to defraud and false accounting.
The alleged offences took place between May, 2006, and January, 2007.
Moore took control of Oldham Athletic in 2001 pledging to take the club into the Premiership within five years. But he stepped down as chairman in 2003 and sold his stake in the club to the Three Amigos consortium led by Simon Blitz in 2004.
Moore held chairman and chief executive roles at the Torex business based in Oxfordshire.
In 2002 he was on the Sunday Times Rich List for the first time at number 936 with his £39 million stake in Torex.
Two other former directors will also appear in court and the first hearing is listed for Friday at Banbury Magistrates’ Court.
