Farewell dinner
Date published: 13 May 2011
Friends and supporters will bid farewell to long-serving councillor David Jones at a charity banquet on Tuesday.
He stepped down from Oldham Council at last week’s elections after over 30 years service, including as education chairman for 15 years, council leader for five years and chairman of Oldham college governors for 20 years.
He and his wife, Jean, are about to finish their year of office as Mayor and Mayoress of Oldham.
The dinner, in aid of the Mayor’s Appeal, will be held at the Ocean Treasure restaurant in Chadderton at 6.30pm. Tickets are £25. Call the Mayor’s office on 0161-770 4012, or email mayors.office@oldham.gov.uk, or Ocean Treasure on 0161-653 6688.
