Coroner in inquest halt

A MOTORIST who killed a recovery truck driver in a collision on the M60 could face criminal charges after a coroner halted an inquest.
Denis Livesley (60), of Gowram Park, Leesbrook, died after being hit by a Volkswagen Golf which skidded on ice and snow near junction six in Sale.
The driver, 23-year-old Sophie Wilkinson, from Bolton, was twice interviewed by the police but never charged.
After hearing evidence from an eye-witness, coroner John Pollard adjourned the inquest so the Crown Service Prosecution can review that decision.
Mr Pollard told the jury at Stockport Coroner’s Court: “I am so sorry to the family that the matter should be put off again but I think it’s the correct decision.”
The inquest heard how Mr Livesley had been loading a Volvo, which had also crashed due to the weather conditions, on to his truck when he was hit by the Volkswagen.
Ms Wilkinson, a veterinary student, could now face the most serious charge of causing death by dangerous driving, a lesser charge of careless driving or face no further action.
The inquest is expected to resume on May 24.
