Waste no time in getting green funding
Date published: 16 May 2011
ECO-MINDED locals are being urged to waste no time in applying for funding to make Oldham a greener place.
The Greater Manchester Waste Disposal Authority (GMWDA) is forking out £50,000 to community groups in the aim of kick-starting recycling projects in the area.
It’s part of the organisation’s Community Waste Fund, to encourage local groups and organisations to submit their ideas they think will help cut down and recycle local waste.
Councillor Swannick, chairman of the GMWDA, said: “We are delighted to announce the Community Waste Fund for 2011, which will fund innovative community waste prevention and recycling projects to help benefit the environment and local communities.
“This is another step towards our aim of zero waste to landfill and can only be achieved with all of Greater Manchester’s help.”
Whether a village group that organises a swap-shop or a social enterprise group who trains up recycling volunteers, don’t miss the chance to get your slice of the cash.
The first round of applications must be in by June 17, before a second round in December.
