Superheroes race for charity

BATMAN and Robin took a break from saving the world to raise funds for a special mobility centre.
The superheroes — aka Steve Bradley (33) and his son, Dylan (5), from Grotton — took part in the 2km race round Heaton Park on Saturday.
Dylan, who suffers from cerebral palsy, is unable to walk unaided and so his dad, an NVQ assessor at New Bridge Learning Centre in Fitton Hill, helped his students create a Batmobile to disguise Dylan’s walking frame.
Steve said: “I was a bit worried about the Batmobile in the morning as it’s made of hardboard and it was raining, but the weather brightened up for the race.
“So far we have raised £210 for Stick n Step in Birkenhead, which Dylan attends twice a week to help him develop important mobility skills.
“The centre doesn’t receive any Government funding, but a lot of children attend from Oldham and Rochdale .”
