Kiss ban ‘nonsense’
Date published: 17 May 2011
OLDHAM Corrie star Antony Cotton has slammed David Cameron for backing a ban on showing same-sex kisses on TV before the 9pm watershed.
The former Oldham Theatre Workshop member has played gay character Sean Tully in Coronation Street for seven years.
Last night, viewers saw him enjoy a blind date with ex-boyfriend Marcus which culminated in a passionate kiss in The Bistro in the second of two episodes of the ITV soap.
Antony (35), who is gay himself, said the Prime Minister is “out of touch” and deemed the policy “ridiculous”.
He added: “One would hope that in 2011 the policy is entirely unenforceable, because it’s nonsense.”
