Raid recovers stolen engines

POLICE have arrested four men after officers recovered stolen engines from a garage in Hathershaw.
Staff from GMP’s Oldham division Proactive Unit raided a unit off Groby Street at noon on Monday.
Officers searched the garage and found five engines from cars that were recently stolen in the Greater Manchester and Cheshire areas.
They also recovered the bodyshell of a car that was stolen last week.
Four men, aged 30, 34, 31 and 33, have been arrested on suspicion of handling stolen goods and remain in police custody for questioning.
Sgt Paul Walker, based at Oldham Police Station, said: “The theft of cars and the trade in stolen parts affects innocent members of the public, who rely on their cars to get to work and take children to school, as well as genuine dealers and mechanics, who cannot begin to compete with the prices at which criminals sell their wares.
“The recovery of stolen items is always a victory for anyone who has suffered because of car crime because those who acted illegally to obtain them will now not benefit from them.
“If you are offered vehicle parts and the price seems too good to be true, it probably is. Anyone with suspicions should report them to police.”
