AN OLDHAM bride could be in line to celebrate her marriage with a special cake inspired by the Royal Wedding.

Chadderton celebration cake designer Emmylou Kelly was quick off the mark to create a stunning copy of the regal cake —minus two tiers — after the April 29 wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton.

And now she has paired up with local events organisers Bev Heap and Cheryl Buckley from Saddleworth Bespoke Events, who have sponsored the cake, to use it for a good cause.

A six-tiered mock-up will go around charity events throughout the summer where raffle tickets will be sold ahead of a draw at an autumn wedding ball organised by Mossley-based wedding coach company, The Wedding Academy.

The final creation will be made up of 13 separate cakes over six tiers, which will feed around 500 people in a slightly smaller version of the eight-tiered Royal Wedding cake which fed 700.

The cake was unveiled at a fundraising fashion show by Saddleworth clothes designer Sue Hitchen, under her label name of “Dirty Sue” at Saddleworth Golf Club in aid of the Multiple Sclerosis Society.

And Bev and Emmylou, of Lily Bud Cupcakes, want to sell as many £1-a-strip raffle tickets as possible over the next few months to raise money for the Eve Appeal, which funds research into gynaecological cancers.

Bev explained the autumn ball will give women a second chance to wear their wedding gowns, and be centre of attention for a second time around at tables filled with family and friends.

Coronation Street bosses have promised to give Bev a wedding gown used in the TV show to auction off for the charity, but is keeping the identity of the bride who wore it under wraps.

And she is also in discussions to get a wedding gown from TV’s Big Fat Gypsy Wedding show to display on the night.

The winner of the raffle will get a replica of the Royal Wedding cake made by Emmylou, made specially for their wedding date.
