Fiona Woods — still reading
A FAILSWORTH bookworm has helped her college raise more than £2,000 for charity in a sponsored readathon.
Fiona Woods (12) was among 200 pupils reading as many books as they could, in the annual event at St Bede’s College in South Manchester.
This year the college raised £2,556, breaking through the £12,000 barrier for the amount collected since it started the readathon in 2001.
The money raised will go to The School under the Tree project in Ethopia, which provides children with a daily meal and materials for school.
Fiona said “I enjoyed taking part in the event.
“It was really interesting to read a wide variety of books and knowing that the money raised was to go to such a good cause.”
