CHEERS... real ale lovers are getting set to raise their glasses to a weekend of revelry at Oldham Beer Festival.
The Mayor of Oldham, David Jones, paid a visit to Greenfield Real Ale Brewery ahead of the three-day event, which starts tomorrow, to make sure everything is running smoothly.
The annual festival was almost cancelled two years ago when the council asked for maximum rent for hire of the Queen Elizabeth Hall, the usual venue, meaning there would be no money left to give to charity.
Organisers were forced to spread the festival around a number of local pubs which had its limitations.
Saddleworth Parish Council came to the rescue and offered the civic hall, in Lee Street, as the festival’s new 2011 venue.
Admission will be £2 and the festival opens from noon-4pm and 6-10.30pm on Friday, noon-10.30pm on Saturday and noon-4pm on Sunday.
